# Workshop Tutorial

Below are some quick pointers in how to get started with Libi. It is deliberately kept light so you can experiment and build at your leisure. Like any software, it takes time to familiarise yourself and become an expert. However, Libi is designed to have a low learning curve and you can create quite complex worlds with just a couple hours. Give it more time and you can make the most intricate 3D experiences. These experiences can be saved, made public or private, and shared with just a link.
### 1. Launch Libi

Head to Libi.xyz - this is the website for the Libi engine app. Once logged in, you will have your own profile and ability to create your 3D experiences. While Libi works on almost any device with a browser and internet connection, we recommend building from a laptop and with a mouse.

### 2. Sign in.

Click on the left menu, or from the homepage "Get Started". Sign in using your email or Google account. Alternatively, if you have an Ethereum or Solana wallet you can connect with your wallet.

### 3. Dashboard & Menu

After Signing in, you'll enter your dashboard. As you are new it's still empty. This is where the projects you are working on will be displayed.

Familiarise yourself with the menu on the left. **New Space / My Space** and **Assets** folders are the main items that you should focus on currently.

**Account** is where you can set your profile up, adding a bio including changing the profile picture and background images.

**Help** You'll find short videos on how to use the engine.

### 4. Make your first project (space).

Libi projects are usually built within worlds or "spaces" as we call them. A space can be any type of immersive experience from an art gallery, a beautiful intricate garden through to a fighting game.

In the menu, click New Space.

For this workshop we will use "Worldbuilding Workshop", so select this space. Wait for it to load. Usually on a good broadband connection spaces load within a few seconds. Once it is ready you should see the message "Click to enter". If after 20-30 seconds it has not loaded, try refreshing.

### 5. Start building

Now you are in the space, you will find a landscape and several models. We will cover in the workshop how to build landscapes from scratch too.

Right clicking on models will open a gizmo. Once a 3D model is selected you can resize and reposition. Try playing around with models to familiarise yourself with the controls.

Tip: Keep saving your spaces, you can give them versioned names. (currently we do not have an undo button!)

#### Controls

Libi is a little different to other editors. You can edit in real-time in the space. Libi allows you to be an editor while moving in the space as a character. If multiplayer is enabled, other people can also edit the space with you. These setting can be controlled from the "Properties" Option in the menu. For this workshop lets continue with the default.\
\
**Mouse Movement:** \
Left click and drag on the screen to look around the scene. A single left click on the floor / environment will make you "Walk".

"F" is Fly mode, to manouvre freely and go through walls. While in fly mode, "Space" makes you float up, and "C" makes you fly down.

Hitting "F" again gives you gravity and you fall back to the ground. \
"Space" is jump and "C" is crouch.

Holding down right click will put you into FPS (First Person Shooter) mode, this is where your cursor changes and you can move freely with the mouse, like in a FPS game.

#### Manouvring objects

Right clicking on models will open a gizmo. Once a 3D model is selected you can resize and reposition. Try playing around with models to familiarise yourself with the controls.

While an object is selected, hitting Alt on windows / Option key on mac, and then clicking on a location will make the object snap to the location. Try it out.

#### Duplicating Objects

To dupliate an object: Right click on an object, the gizmo should show on the object. While keeping the alt / option key pressed down, move the object using the gizmo. It should create a duplicate.

#### **Multiple selections.**

Hitting Shift key while selecting objects will select multiples. Combining this with the alt/option key and dragging, will create multiple duplicates.

#### Changing the environment

Right clicking on the landscape will open a menu on the right. There are various settings for editing the scenery. Likewise for the Sky settings.

#### Uploading images

Drag and drop an image into the scene. There will be various options, but for having an image to display in the scene select "Frame". We will show you also how to change the appearance of the frame.

#### Uploading models

You can upload 3D models. GLB, OBJ file formats work best. We have plans for FBX and other formats in future.

#### Animations

These work too, if they are part of the GLB file. Not sure we have time to talk about physics! We will try to show you during the workshop. (More documentation coming)

### 6. Have fun Building

Hopefully by the end of the workshop you will have your first 3D space. It is upto you what you decide to build. It could be a gallery or it could be a virtual world made to protest what changes you want to see in the world.

Once saved, go to the left side menu. Click Properties. Select Access, change this to public for your space to be viewable on Libi. Share the link with your friends! We will drop some more docs / videos on how to embed etc For now you can join our Discord to get any further help.

[Sketchfab.com](https://sketchfab.com) - You can find free 3D models to use. Download as GLB or OBJ. (Note: not all the models will work, as sometimes they are not game-ready/optimised.)
